Ellis Ray "Little Man"  Manns
Ellis Ray Manns, “Little Man”, 74, of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Franciscan Health Rensselaer. He was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky of August 3, 1943 to Wed Manns and Rosie (Bailey) Manns. He grew up in Kentucky and on August 27, 1960, in Royalton, Kentucky, he married Nella L. Rowe. She preceded him in death on October 30, 1999.

As a young man, Ellis began working as a coal miner in the hills of Kentucky. He went on to operate his own appliance store in Stanton, Kentucky. Upon moving to Rensselaer he went to work for Sealy Springs, from which he retired after 25 years of service.

Ellis loved working on washers and dryers. A diehard Cubs fan, he enjoyed reading and watching old Westerns. He loved his biscuits and gravy, peanut butter, and Zagnut candy bars. He was feisty, sarcastic, and had a great sense of humor. Ellis always enjoyed a good discussion or debate. He had a strong faith in the love of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his precious grandkids.

Ellis is survived by his loving family: one son, Weddie Manns of Wolcott; two daughters, Phyllis (Gardell) Lewis of Rensselaer and Sheila (Jerry) Simonton of Rensselaer; four brothers: Phillip (Etta Faye) Manns of Kentucky, Skid (Louise) Manns of Lafayette, Finley Manns of Rensselaer, and Scottie Manns of DeMotte; five sisters: Sally (Mason) Spencer of Kentucky, Linda (David) Murillo of Rensselaer, Henrietta Spears of Lafayette, Karen (Gary) Peterson of Rensselaer, and Debbie (David) Kaminga of DeMotte; eleven grandchildren: Kyle Manns, Nella Manns, Pamela LeMaster, Brandon (Deanna) LeMaster, De-Shawn Lewis, Micheala Cournoyer, Shayna Cournoyer, Martina Manns, Andrea Isom, Elijah Isom, and Leah-Katherine Isom; five great-grandchildren: Neely Paz, Jasiah Paz, Zepplin LeMaster, Levi LeMaster, Peyton Cournoyer; and one great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Wed and Rosie Manns; his wife, Nella Manns; one daughter, Lisa Isom; three brothers: Ralph, Harlan Wayne, and infant brother Ebert Glenn; and two sisters, Pauline and Dora Faye.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 3-7 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Pastor Wanda Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery.
