Alice (Wood) Hoffman, 70, of rural Rensselaer, passed away at her home on Monday, July 1, 2019. She was born on September 8, 1948, in Rensselaer, to the late Landis L. Wood and Josephine (Dayton) Wood. She graduated from Rensselaer High School with the Class of 1967. On May 11, 1968, in Rensselaer, she married Bruce Hoffman.
Alice was a graduate of Porter Business School in Indianapolis. She worked for Heritage Office Products and retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency in 2011. She was a member of American Legion Post 29, and a past member of the VFW and the Rensselaer Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed her animals: three cats and two Labs; and spending time with her family.
Alice is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bruce Hoffman of Rensselaer; daughter Missy (Bob, Jr.) Schultz of DeMotte; son Jason Hoffman (Heather Shepherd) of Rensselaer; four grandchildren: Taylor Schultz, Nolan Schultz, David Walker and Brayden Hildebrand; one brother, Stephen (Donna) Wood of Rensselaer; one brother-in-law, Jim (Julie) Hoffman of Rensselaer; four sisters-in-law: Mary (Michael) Payne of Rensselaer, Norma (Harv) Kamminga of Lake Village, Ginny (Steve) Reames of Rensselaer and Helen Kroll (Stan Pytel) of Highland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers: Bud Wood, Bob Wood, Vaughn Wood, Dick Wood, Bill Wood and Chuck Wood.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 2-7 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A Celebration of Life for Alice will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Frieda Bretzinger officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
