Obituary for Ardis Carol Swartz (Tanner)

Ardis Carol Swartz, age 89, of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center. Ardis was born August 25, 1931, in Rensselaer, daughter of Frank and Elsie (Finch) Tanner. She grew up in the Rensselaer area and attended Rensselaer schools. On November 23, 1949 she married Raymond Swartz in Rensselaer.

Ardis worked as a bank teller for the State Bank of Rensselaer, and later worked on the production line at Northway Products where she retired after 30 years of service. Ardis was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Rensselaer and the Rensselaer Library book club. She loved quilting, crocheting, and cooking. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and had been to 49 of the 50 states.

Ardis is survived by three sons: William (wife Sandy) Swartz, Robert (wife Cindy) Swartz and Bradley (wife Cathy) Swartz. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Mike, Kurt, Joe, Jessica, Brandon and Angela, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her parents, and her brother Robert.

A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 12 p.m. Pastor Matt Baughman officiating. Due to the current pandemic masks and social distancing are required at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
