Obituary for Arlene Ann Hopf (Howard)

Arlene Ann Hopf, 87, of Titusville, Florida, formerly of Morocco, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020. She was born in Marion Township, Illinois on April 13, 1933 to Albert Howard and Viola May (Schick) Howard.

On May 3, 1973, in Kankakee, Illinois, Arlene married Norman H. Hopf. Together they owned Hopf’s B&E Camp in Schneider, Indiana. Norman preceded her in death on April 5, 1982.

Arlene was a graduate of Business Training International in Titusville, Florida where she earned certificates in data entry, typing, and word processing. She was the owner-operator of her own business, the Christmas Dream Shop. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the American Legion in Roselawn, Indiana and St. Jude’s. She enjoyed toy making, macramé, playing cards, interior decorating and making floral arrangements. Most of all, Arlene loved Christmas and her family. She loved visiting her family in Wisconsin Dells during the winter playing in the snow, building snowmen and having snowball fights. She loved to travel and delighted to spend time in nature, watching deer, feeding birds, cats, and squirrels.

Arlene is survived by her longtime companion, William Kenimond of Titusville, Florida; her five children: Cathy (Chris) Arnold of Bradenton, Florida, Richard (Joy) McCann and Sandra (Dennis) Sells, both of Morocco, Indiana, Sherrie (Mike) Chapman of Rogers, Arkansas, and Norman (Melody) Hopf of Grand Bay, Alabama; one brother, Roy Howard; brother-in-law Shorty Bramel and friend Joyce; and extended family, Debbie (Cletus) Kruse of Louisville, Kentucky. 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Viola Howard; her husband Norman H. Hopf; two sisters, Wanda F. Bramel and Edith Hammerly; brother-in-law Gene Hammerly; daughter-in-law Linda Hopf; and three grandchildren: Timothy McCann, Catherine Sue (Gross) Bouse, and Heather Sells.

A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco, Indiana on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 10 a.m. CST. The family would like to honor Arlene and her favorite holiday by asking everyone attending to please wear Christmas attire.

Due to the pandemic, face masks are required and social distancing among households will be practiced at the cemetery.
