Obituary for Braden Robert Schoonover

Braden Robert Schoonover, our beloved, sweet son passed away on October 5th, 2021, at the age of 13.

Braden was born on October 26th, 2007, in Saint Joseph County, IN, to his parents Brit and Andrea Schoonover. Braden was an adventurous kid who loved spending time outdoors. Between riding his four-wheeler, skiing, shooting his bow, camping in Wyoming, and playing with his dogs, Braden always found time to be outside. He enjoyed playing video games with his friends, watching funny TikToks and YouTube videos; his laughter was infectious. He was able to travel often visiting states that line the West Coast, various states in the West and Midwest, and traveling to Mexico with his family. Over the last year Braden became a master chef trying new recipes and experimenting with different foods, which became quite the competition with his brother. He was even able to outcook his mom and dad. Braden enjoyed spending time with his sister, going out to eat, getting ice cream together, and often trying to drive her car without her permission. Braden was the kindest, most pure-hearted person that you could meet. He was a gentle giant at 6’ 1” with a pure soul. Braden attended Indiana Connections Academy where he progressed through his 8th grade school year.

Braden is survived by his loving parents, Brit and Andrea Schoonover; his siblings Darien Schoonover and Hannah Hiscox; his paternal great-grandmother Emma Schoonover (Casper, WY); his paternal grandparents Gordon and Cherie Schoonover (Casper, WY); his maternal grandmother Tina Bernacchi-Grostefon his special grandfather Douglas Grostefon (Monticello, IN); his maternal grandfather Larry “Dutch” (Julie) Shoupe Jr. (Valparaiso, IN); his maternal great-uncle Mark Butts (Laporte, IN); his paternal aunt Tanya (Dan) Ranney (Denver, CO); his maternal aunts Erin Shoupe (Monticello, IN), and Paden Kentaft (LaPorte, IN); his maternal uncles Robert John “RJ” Shoupe (Union Mills, IN), Dylan Shoupe (LaPorte, IN), Sam Shoupe, and Cole Shoupe (Valparaiso, IN); his paternal cousin Cooper Ranney; and maternal cousins Kylen Nebelung, Alaric Kentaft and Shay Shoupe.
