Obituary for Cella Madge Williams (Hopkins)

Cella Madge Williams, 86, of Rensselaer, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022 at Autumn Trace Assisted Living. She was born in Salyersville, Kentucky on July 15, 1935, the daughter of Hargis and Myrtle (Allen) Hopkins. Her marriage was to Donald M. Williams on June 4, 1955. He preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1992.

Madge worked for Schumacher Electric and Northway Products. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends and family.

She is survived by four children: Mike Williams of Hobart, Randy (Shari) Williams of Rensselaer, Norm (Carol) Williams of Rensselaer, and Donna (Bill) Nemeth of Wheatfield; three sisters: Beulah McEwen, Daisy (Delbert) Craft, and Juanita (John) Smith, all of Rensselaer; and one brother, Pete Hopkins of Fair Oaks. 15 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren on the way, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hargis and Myrtle Hopkins; her husband, Donald Williams; two sons, Curt Williams and David Williams; two grandsons, Joshua Williams and Matthew Daniels; one great-grandson, Christian Johns; one step-grandson, Eric Nemeth; and 13 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022 from 2 p.m. until time of funeral at 6 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Andy Majorins officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Independence Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Animal Shelter.
