Obituary for Christopher Michael "Chris" Hudson

Christopher Michael “Chris” Hudson, 41, of Medaryville, Indiana passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. He was born in Lafayette on June 1, 1980, the son of Michael “Mike” Hudson and the late Theresa Ann (Malott) Hudson.

Chris was a1999 graduate of Rensselaer Central High School. He had an interest in helping others as an EMT and began working at Steinke Ambulance Service as a junior in high school. He earned his certification as a paramedic and worked as an ER tech in the trauma unit at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette for several years.

He came back to Rensselaer and began working as a paramedic for Prompt Ambulance Service. Since then, he has worked for many different ambulance services throughout northern Indiana. During his career he also worked as a 911 dispatcher for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Dept. for a few years. Most recently, Chris worked as a paramedic in Fulton County and was a proud member of the Medaryville/White Post Volunteer Fire Dept.

Chris was passionate about his work and he touched many lives. He also was a devoted father to his son Carter, whom he loved spending time with. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many colleagues he worked with over the years.

Chris is survived by his son Carter William Hudson; his father Mike Hudson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother; an infant sister; his paternal grandparents, William and Barbara Hudson; and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Eleanor Malott.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services with firefighter honors will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 1 p.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Rev. Andy Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Weston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Medaryville/White Post Volunteer Fire Dept.
