Obituary for Crestal M. Woodworth (Fleming)

Crestal M. Woodworth, 97, of Rensselaer, IN passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born in Brook, IN on Oct. 1, 1924 to Charles and Anna (Lyons) Fleming. She was a 1942 graduate of Rensselaer High School. On Jan. 5, 1946 she married William A. “Bill” Woodworth. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2010.

Crestal was a homemaker. Her husband, Bill, was an auctioneer and insurance agent, and she assisted him as his clerk when he was auctioneering and as a secretary with the insurance agency. In her younger years, Crestal enjoyed playing Bridge and she and Bill were members of Curtis Creek Golf Club. They enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling together. Bill was a WWII veteran and served in the Army with the 10th Mountain Division. After discharging from the service, both Bill and Crestal were active with the 10th Mountain Division reunions over the years. Some of their travels took them overseas to some of the places that Bill had served in the Army, including France.

Crestal is survived by her three children: Pat Riley of Indianapolis, Chip (Pam) Woodworth of Rensselaer, and Polly (Jim) Simmons of St. Augustine Beach, FL; one sister, Faye McCurtain of Rensselaer; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; 4 brothers; and one sister.

Per Crestal’s wishes, cremation will take place and burial will be at Weston Cemetery at a later date. Steinke Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.SteinkeFuneralHome.com.
