Obituary for Dan Marshall Bilyeu

Dan Marshall Bilyeu, 75, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at Franciscan Health Indianapolis, surrounded by his family. He was born in Rensselaer on February 10, 1945 to Marshall Franklin Bilyeu and Mildred Irene (Nehring) Bilyeu. He was a 1963 graduate of Rensselaer High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam.

On January 20, 1968, in Rensselaer, he married Peg Anderson. “Blue”, as his co-workers called him, worked for many years at United Telephone Company. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peg Bilyeu of Rensselaer; three children: Suzanne (Rod) Klingler, of Rensselaer, Angela Sinks of West Lafayette, and Mark (Katie) Bilyeu of Rensselaer; one brother, Paul (Rosie) Bilyeu of Rensselaer; his father-in-law, Dale Anderson of Monticello; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Mildred Bilyeu; a great-grandson, Levi Hitchings; and his mother-in-law, Ida Jean Anderson.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Crossview Worship Center, 305 E. Wood Rd. in Rensselaer, Indiana. The family is planning a Celebration of Life service at 4 p.m. with Pastor Mark Bilyeu officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SUDC Foundation in honor of Levi Hitchings.
