Obituary for Dorothy J. Amsler (Watts)

Dorothy J. Amsler, 86, of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born September 23, 1927 in Milford, Illinois to Raymond and Alice (Prutsman) Watts.

She graduated from Goodland High School in 1946. On February 7, 1949 in Watseka, Illinois she married James H. Amsler. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed puzzles and gardening.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family: husband James H. Amsler of Rensselaer; three children: Marvin Amsler (Gail) of Hustisford, Wisconsin, Donald Amsler (Brenda) of Rensselaer, and Cathleen Brown (Bob) of Rensselaer; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Watts (Bonnie) of Lafayette; two sisters, Sue Elson of Rensselaer and Virginia Standish (Jack) of Rensselaer. She was preceded in death by: her parents and one brother.

Per Dorothy’s wishes, a private graveside service was held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society. Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer handled the arrangements.
