Dorothy Elizabeth (White) Varallo, 85, of Morocco passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on June 23, 1933, the daughter of the late King Walter and Agnes Margaret (Egan) White.

Dorothy was a resident of Morocco for nearly forty years after relocating from Chicago Heights, IL. She retired from Capitol Products in Kentland and also worked as a bus aide for North Newton School Corporation. She was affectionately known as “Granny Nanny Toot-Toot” and “Dottie”. She loved coffee, reading, bunco, going on walks and her dog, Bentley. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, by whom she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by five children, Bruce (Cyndi) Flamini of Crete, IL, Renae (Jose) Del Valle of Chicago Heights, IL, Toni (Paul) Armstrong of Wheatfield, Victor Varallo and Gina (Ernie) Zylo, both of Morocco; eleven grandchildren, Jessica, Janice, Mia & Nina Flamini, Denise & Anthony Guillermo, Hillary (Doug) Murphy and Brett Armstrong, Brendon Varallo, Kyra & Kaylee (Cameron Watts) Zylo and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Sharon (White) Duda, three brothers, Gary, Greg and Jeff White, all of Pennsylvania, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise (Howard) Spurgeon, one brother, Robert White, and three sisters, Anna Umholtz, Patricia Walters and Marjorie White.

Visitation will be held at Steinke Funeral Home in Rensselaer on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Bishop Rick Helton officiating. Private graveside services to be held at a later date. Interment beside her late husband, Charles Flamini at Calvary Cemetery in Steger, Illinois.

Special thanks to the dementia unit staff at Rensselaer Care Center for their compassionate care. Memorials may be made to Newton County Community Services.
