Obituary for Elaine Elizabeth Lewis (Moore)

Elaine Elizabeth Lewis, 84, of Monon, formerly of Rensselaer, passed away at her home on Monday, May 6, 2019. She was born in Rensselaer on February 22, 1935 to the late Orval R. Moore and Helen E. (Evion) Moore. She was a 1954 graduate of Rensselaer High School. On November 15, 1953 she married Lester Leon Yenna. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1975.

Elaine worked as a nurse’s aide for Jasper County Hospital and the Rensselaer Care Center. She later owned and operated the Which Craft Shop in Monticello for several years. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and spending time with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Roger (Brenda) Yenna of Monon and Steve (Tina) Yenna of Sarasota, FL; three brothers: Paul (Pat) Moore of Rensselaer, Orville (Jeanette) Moore of Wolcott and Victor (Barbara) Moore of Rensselaer; nine grandchildren: Matt Yenna, Jason (Christy) Yenna, Joshua (Lindsay) Yenna, Sandra (Michael) Woday, Robert Brown (fiancé Lindsey Baugh), Amylyn Yenna, Margaret (Justin) Hartman, Chris (Tina-Marie) Yenna and Tim Yenna; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester; one brother, Donald Moore; and one sister, Margaret Weems.

Visitation will be Friday, May 10, 2019 from 3 p.m. until time of funeral at 5 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Melvin Lane officiating.
