Obituary for George Lewis Polisson

George Lewis Polisson, 69, of Rensselaer passed away early Tuesday morning, January 14, 2014, at his home. He was born in Plainfield, NJ April 17, 1944 son of the late Nicholos Polisson and Katherine (Aller) Polisson. After graduating from high school, George joined the U.S. Navy in which he served his country from 1963-1973. He was a First Class Petty Officer, having worked as a cook, as a crew member on an LST and a gunner on a patrol boat in Vietnam, and finished his career as a submariner.

George married his beloved wife of 42 years, Patsy (Redenbaugh) Polisson, on July 3, 1971, in Lansing, IL. He worked 10 years as a burner at Blawknox in East Chicago building U.S. military tanks, and then as a material handler for Talbert Trailer in Rensselaer for over 20 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of AmVets, VFW, and Bethany Evangelical Free Church of Rensselaer. George served on mission trips with the church. He enjoyed his dogs, yard work and being outdoors.

George is survived by: his loving wife, Patsy Polisson, and two brothers: Nick Polisson (Carole) of Crystal River, FL, and William Polisson (Nancee) of Salem, OR. He was preceded in death by: his parents, one sister and one brother.

Friends may call Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 3-7 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Larry B. Hansen officiating.
