Obituary for Harold Earl "Gus" Hageman

Harold “Gus” Hageman, 81, of Rensselaer, passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 7, 2015 at his home. He was born in Remington on Sept. 5, 1933, the son of the late Julius and Hulda (Schlipf) Hageman. Gus graduated from Gilboa Township High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On April 14, 1973, in Lake Village, he married Rose Ann Paris.

Gus worked in construction for Union Local #274 and also worked for White Advertising Company for 20 years. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Gus is survived by his loving family: wife Rose Ann Hageman of Rensselaer; two step-sons, Rick Robbins (Martha) of Dayton, Ohio and Randy Robbins (Shena) of Rensselaer; one step-daughter, Becky Robbins of Rensselaer; four grandchildren: Joy Stone, Zach Robbins, Amber Matthies and Courtney Robbins of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Floyd Hageman of Remington and Robert Hageman of Sebring, Florida; and seventeen great grandchildren.

Gus was preceded in death by: his parents, Julius and Hulda Hageman; three brothers: Eugene Hageman, Edwin Hageman and Donald Hageman; and two sisters, Esther Overbeck and Betty Stevens.

“To my best friend, Jimmy Shanley: Thanks for all your acts of kindness you so freely gave to myself and my two girls, Rosie and Sissy.”
