Obituary for Jack N. Snell

Pastor Jack N. Snell, 80, of Morocco, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was born in Clinton County, Indiana on February 5, 1933, son of the late Sylvester and Fern (Goodwin) Snell. He was a lifelong area resident. Jack graduated from Morocco High School with the class of 1951. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1957 and went on to earn his Masters degree from Purdue University in 1960. On August 16, 1952 Jack married his wife of over 60 years, Sarah (Dawson) Snell.

Jack was a teacher and counselor in the Newton County Schools for 49 years, retiring in 1998. He served as Pastor of the Raub United Methodist Church in Raub, Indiana. Jack was a past member of the Lions Club, a Boy Scout Leader, and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He enjoyed model railroads, fishing, camping, traveling and oil painting. He especially enjoyed painting pictures of covered bridges.

Jack is survived by his loving family: wife Sarah Snell; daughter Cecilia (Mrs. Larry) Henning of Flora; two sons, Stephen Snell and William Snell, both of Morocco; and one sister, Joan Wilson of Camp Verde, AZ. Two granddaughters also survive. He was preceded in death by: his parents, a brother and a nephew.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. (CST) Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Morocco Community Center. Funeral services will be Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. (CST) at the Morocco First United Methodist Church with Rev. Katharine Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
