Obituary for James Gordon "Jim" Anderson

James Gordon Anderson, 73, of Morocco, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. Jim was born in Rensselaer, Indiana on August 22, 1944, the son of Dale James Anderson and the late Ida Jean (Carter) Anderson. He was a graduate of Mount Ayr High School with the Class of 1962. On August 3, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Hanley, at the Thayer Presbyterian Church.

Jim was the grain superintendent for the Ade Elevator. He retired in July, 2010 after 41 years of service. He also enjoyed farming with his father with their WD45 Allis Chalmers tractors.

He was a member of the Morocco First United Methodist Church. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. An avid sports fan, his favorite teams were Purdue and the Chicago Cubs.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia “Pat” Anderson of Morocco; his son, Jeffery G. (Evangeline) Anderson of Lafayette; his daughter, Michelle R. (Dale) Zelhart of Farmer City, Illinois; one brother, Jerry L. (Regina) Anderson of Leiters Ford, Indiana; one sister, Peggy J. (Dan) Bilyeu of Rensselaer; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Ida Jean Anderson, and one brother, Jon E. Anderson.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. (CDT) at the Morocco First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 12 p.m. (CDT) at the Morocco First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Vine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Morocco First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Steinke Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
