Obituary for James Edward "Jim" Taylor

James Edward Taylor, 77, of Remington, Indiana passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on May 18, 1943, the son of Leo Taylor and Ellen (James) Taylor. He was a graduate of Charleston High School in Charleston, West Virginia.

Jim worked for over 25 years at Sealy Spring Corp. in Rensselaer. He went on to pursue his lifelong passion for old cars and hot rods, working at Russell’s Rods Shop in Dayton, Indiana, followed by Tim’s Auto Body & Sales in Rensselaer. He was the proud owner of a ’50 Mercury, a car that he completely restored.

He was married for 40 years and has three children: Denny (Michele) Taylor of Remington, Indiana, Doug (Tiffany) Taylor of New Albany, Indiana, and Dannette (Kevin) Bulington of Rensselaer, Indiana. Also surviving are one brother, Jeff (Paula) Taylor of Taylorsville, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jody Taylor, and two grandsons.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer.
