Obituary for John J. "Mr. B" Barrientos

John J. Barrientos, 88, of Rensselaer, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at Jasper County Hospital. He was born in Ft. Wayne on Oct. 2, 1926. He was a teacher for 46 years, having taught at St. Augustine School, Rensselaer Middle School, and Rensselaer High School. He also served as the tennis coach at St. Joseph College. John enjoyed playing poker, playing tennis, and watching sports.

John is survived by one son, James Barrientos of Rensselaer; two daughters: Nancy Grooms (Jeff) of Georgetown, KY and Teresa Schmidt; five grandchildren: Carmen Bar of Rensselaer, Jared Laurick (Brook) of Freeport, FL, Max Grooms of Georgetown, KY, Rob Berges of Rensselaer and Micky Berges of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Ricky Barrientos; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: one son, Tom; four brothers; and two sisters.
