Obituary for John Burton Long

John Burton Long, 28, of Winamac, formerly of Remington, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, November 27, 2018 in an automobile accident. He was born in Lafayette on November 1, 1990, the son of Frances Lucille (Barnhart) Long and the late John Raymond Long.

John attended the Tri-County schools and earned his GED. He worked at Genova Products in Rensselaer. He enjoyed outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, and playing paintball. He was good with kids and he loved animals, especially his pet boxer mix, Felix. John will be remembered for his upbeat personality and for always having a smile on his face.

John is survived by his mother, Frances Long; five sisters: Veronica (Ted) Siegle, Carrie (Ben) Justice, Krystal (Scott) Cadwallader, Jessica (Aaron) Foulks, and Holly Long; and his maternal grandmother, Myrtle Barnhart.

He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Long; paternal grandparents, John Burton Long and Patricia Ruark; and maternal grandfather, Robert Barnhart.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. CST (3-5 p.m. EST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 4 p.m. CST (5 p.m. EST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.
