Obituary for Kathryn L. "Kathy" Johnson (Merrill)
Kathryn L. Johnson, 71, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away at her home Wednesday morning, April 21, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born in Kankakee, Illinois on October 28, 1949, the daughter of Everette L. Merrill and Leona M. (Franklin) Merrill. She was a 1967 graduate of Morocco High School.
On October 29, 1994, in Morocco, she married Stephen B. “Steve” Johnson. Kathy worked as a CNA in private home health care. She enjoyed reading, dice, and playing cards.
She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Johnson; three daughters: Michelle (Larry) Baker, Candy (Billy) Wiseman, and Lindsey (Jason) Edwards; one sister, Laura (Dennis) Ault; six grandchildren: Jacob (Heidi), Brittany, Ethen, Chelby, Toney, and Hailey; and six great-grandchildren: Bryce, Tristin, Ariel, Shelby, Noah, Annalee, and Willow Kathryn. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everette and Leona Merrill; two sisters, Edna Brown and Joan Glasgow; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Moore; one niece, Robin Brown; and her in-laws, John and Henrietta “Georgia” Hoaks.
