Obituary for Kathryn L. McIlvain (Kalberer)

Kathryn L. McIlvain, 87, of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at her home. She was born in Winamac on August 17, 1926, daughter of the late William Kalberer and Hazel (Davis) Kalberer. She was a lifelong area resident.

Kathryn attended school in Medaryville. On July 30, 1954 she married Robert Davis. He preceded her in death. On April 5, 1984, she married Clarence McIlvain, who also preceded her in death.

Kathryn was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Bible Church in Francesville. She enjoyed watching her soap operas and Westerns on TV, working puzzles and drinking a cold glass of milk. She loved spending time with her family and her dogs: “Buddy” her Dachshund and “Roudy” her Chihuahua.

Kathryn is survived by her loving family: seven children: Clarence McIlvain (wife: Pat) of Palmetto, FL, Priscilla Berrier (husband: Russell) of Rensselaer, Barbara Gonczy (husband: Robert) of Morocco, Lillian Delaney of Rensselaer, Carolyn Ray (husband: Jessie) of Rensselaer, Robert Davis (girlfriend: Linda Mee) of Round Lake, MN, and Lawrence Fisher (fiancé: Kimberly Holmes) of Rensselaer; two brothers: Thomas Kalberer (wife: Vera) and Lewis Kalberer, both of Hobart; two sisters: Wilma Davis (husband: Donald) of Lake Station and Retha Hunt (husband: James) of TN; 23 grand children and 30 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Robert Davis; her husband Clarence McIlvain; her son Larry Lee Fisher; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Leonard Allen officiating.
