Larry Roger Gibson, 69, of Morocco, Indiana passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Franciscan Health Crown Point. He was born near Enos on September 3, 1949 to Webb Elmon Gibson and Elsie Mae (Henson) Gibson.

He graduated with the last graduating class from Mount Ayr High School in 1967. During high school he played football and basketball for the Ayrdales. He went on to study forestry at Purdue University. On July 19, 1969, in Lake Village he married the love of his life, Vergie Sapp.

Larry was a proud member of the Army National Guard, serving for six years. He had been a seed sales representative and certified crop advisor for Pioneer since 1976. He attended the Morocco First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Morocco American Legion.

Larry loved to travel and he and his wife, Vergie, took many cruises together. He was a world-class walleye fisherman and enjoyed many fishing trips to Lac Seul in Ontario, Canada. He also enjoyed bowling and was an avid hunter.

Larry was a farmer through and through. He loved farming, running the corn dryer in the fall, and raising livestock. His main love was his family and his precious grandsons, Bryce and Parker. He loved spending time with them; watching them play baseball; riding 4-wheelers; and teaching them how to fish and mow.

Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vergie Gibson of Morocco; son Matthew Gibson and his wife Amy, of Morocco; daughter Natalie (Gibson) Howard and her husband Eric, of Morocco; two grandsons, Bryce and Parker Gibson of Morocco; one sister-in-law, Linda Gibson of Boswell, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Webb and Elsie Gibson; four brothers: Harley, Harvey, Charles, and Robert Gibson; two sisters, Louise Jones and Diana Dewey; and foster-sister Myrle Williamson.
