Lilly May Madison, 82, of Rensselaer, passed away at her home on Monday, February 11, 2019. She was born in Newland, Indiana on August 14, 1936, the daughter of Lebo Whitaker and Mollie (Salyers) Whitaker. She attended Newland schools and married Delbert Madison, Sr. in 1952.
May was a homemaker and loved to entertain. She was a great cook and enjoyed feeding everyone. You never left her house hungry. She was “everyone’s mom”. She had a heart of gold and loved unconditionally. She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. Her grandkids consider them “hugs from grandma.” May’s family truly was her life.
She is survived by five children: Phyllis (Larry) Wilson, Delbert Madison, Jr., Christine (Rodger) Kelley, Patricia (Nick) Mattocks and Cassie Dowdy; one brother, Jack Whitaker; eight grandchildren: Robbert Madison, Amber (Aaron) Parrish, Travis (Christina) Mattocks, Jeremy Kelley, Trevor Kelley, Kaylee Dowdy, Miranda Dowdy, and Nathan Davis; and eleven great-grandchildren.
