Obituary for Marilyn Marie Johnston (Lapp)

Marilyn Marie Johnston, 69, of Lake Village, left this world for her place with our Lord Jesus Christ on the 26th of December, 2021 after a long battle with lung cancer. Her giving heart stopped at 11:07 a.m. She will be missed by her family and loving husband, Patrick “Sarge” Johnston.

Marilyn was a graduate of Thornridge High School in Illinois, and was a right of way agent for the Linderlake Corp. of Illinois for more than 22 years.

She liked riding her motorcycle which she built herself, camping, and fishing. In later life she took up shooting and hunting with her husband Pat.

She is the mother of two boys, Brian and Jason Fiegle, and step-mother to Colin Johnston of Mississippi. She is the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren, plus an adopted grandson, Joel Betz and family, with two more grandchildren.

She was the treasurer and secretary for the original chapter of The American Veterans Motorcycle Riders Association for 10 years until they suspended the group over issues left unsaid.

She loved her garden and was in it every day in the spring and summer after she retired. She was an avid crochet fanatic and was always making something for someone, be it quilts or animal toys for newborn babies. It was her great joy to do things for others, and never complaining about anything.

She left a hole in a lot of people’s hearts with her passing. She is finally at peace and not suffering anymore.

God keep you my love,
Pat

The family is planning a celebration of Marilyn’s life for a later date. Steinke Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family with cremation services.
