Nevoy S. Culp, 87, of Rensselaer, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. He was born in rural Remington on March 4, 1934, the son of Ralph and Darlene (Graf) Culp. He graduated from Remington High School in 1954 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army.
Nevoy became a pilot while he was still in high school. He loved to fly his plane. He also enjoyed traveling and photography. When he was younger, he played the drums in a jazz band. Nevoy was a farmer his entire life. He loved farming and raising his cattle. He was also a mechanic and worked on his own planes, vehicles and farm equipment. He was a member of the Remington Masonic Lodge, the International Flying Farmers, and the Indiana Flying Farmers.
His marriage was to Shirley (Lesley) Culp, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Sharon (Max) LaBrooy, Bradley (Colleen) Culp, Bryan (Brigitte) Culp, and Michelle Culp; two step-children, Pamela (Timothy) Harris and Craig (Stacey) Wilcox; one sister, Joyce Moore; and one brother-in-law, Dave Bjorndahl. Eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Clara Bjorndahl; infant son Nevoy, Jr.; and step-son Scott Wilcox.
Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. (Central) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Due to the pandemic face masks are encouraged, even for those who have been vaccinated. Masonic Service at 7:00 pm. (Central). Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. (Central) with burial to follow at Remington Cemetery.
