Obituary for Ricky Lee Lowry

Ricky Lee Lowry, 69, of Rensselaer, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021 at Franciscan Health Crown Point. He was born in Lafayette on March 6, 1952, the son of Robert Lowry and Vivian (Epler) Lowry. He was a 1971 graduate of Rensselaer Central High School and attended Vincennes University.

Rick worked highway maintenance for INDOT before retiring. He was also a substitute bus driver for the Rensselaer Central School Corp. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Francesville, the Christian Motorcycle Association, and the Gold Wing Riders Association – Road Runners local chapter.

Rick was so proud of his 3 children and had so much fun and joy spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Rick loved farming, gardening, and growing flowers, plants and trees. He was very creative and enjoyed painting, especially bird houses. He enjoyed watching old westerns and was a big Purdue, Cubs and Bears fan. Rick was a people person and enjoyed storytelling and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Scripter) Lowry of Rensselaer; three children: Michael T. Lowry of Valparaiso, Justin Lowry of Rensselaer, and Vanessa (Andy) Manet of Plainfield, IN; twin brother Bob (Connie) Lowry of Francesville; sister Becky (Donnie) Brandenburg of Rensselaer; and three grandchildren: Zackary Lowry, Jordyn Lowry, and Barrett Manet. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 2-6 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. (CDT) with Pastor Jim Ketchen officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer. Contributions in Rick’s memory may be made to the CDC Resources of Rensselaer or the Rensselaer Park Board's Summer Youth Sports League.
