Obituary for Shirley S. Thompson (McGregor)

Shirley Suzanne Thompson, 85, of Morocco, passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 12, 2022 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook. She was born in Rensselaer on Nov. 22, 1936, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Snodgrass) McGregor. She was a graduate of Morocco High School with the Class of 1955.

On Sept. 15, 1958, in Morocco, she married the love of her life, Clarence A. “Tom” Thompson. They were married for 63 years. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2022.

Shirley was a member of the United Church of Morocco, the Morocco American Legion Post #146 Auxiliary, and the Morocco BUNCO Club. She was a true Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers.

She is survived by her four children: Michelle (Wayne) Kindig, Kathy Miiller (friend Jim), Raymond (Linda) Thompson, and Pamela (Brian) Vanderwall; and seven grandchildren: Catrina (Joshua) Spiker, Tonya (Rune) Gusevik, Danielle (Craig) Sands, Marcus Miiller, David (Sarah) Thompson, Jaclyn Kindig (friend Robert), and Chloe Vanderwall. Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clarence.

Private services will be held at a later date. Contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Morocco American Legion Post #146 Auxiliary. Steinke Funeral Home has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
