Obituary for Stephen B. Johnson
“Gone Fishing”
Stephen B. Johnson age 71 of Rensselaer passed away at Franciscan Health Rensselaer Saturday January 8th. He was born January 9, 1950 in Seymour Indiana the son of Warren and Henrietta (Ault) Johnson.
On October 29,1994 in Morocco he married Kathryn Merrill, she preceded him in death on April 21, 2021. Stephen worked as a supervisor for Dalton and Darabaris Company in Morocco. Stephen loved fishing, and also enjoyed hunting, and golf. Other hobbies included: coin collecting, arrowhead hunting and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his three daughters: Michelle (Larry) Baker, Candy (Billy) Wiseman, and Lindsey (Jason) Edwards. Also surviving are sisters: Janet (Larry) Ross, Elverna Cummings, and Laura (Dennis) Ault. Stephen is also survived by his grandchildren: Jacob (Heidi) Shireley, Brittany Baker, Ethen and Chelby Wiseman, Toney Cotner, Haylie Joseph and Hailey Cotner, and Great grandchildren: Bryce and Tristen Hinson, Ariel Shireley, Shelby Baker, Noah, Annalee and Willow Cotner. Several nieces and nephews survive, including special nieces Betty and Kristen Estes.
Stephen was preceded in death by his wife Kathy Johnson who passed away April 21,2021, Also his parents: Henrietta Johnson, Warren Johnson and John Hoaks; in laws Everette and Leona Merrill; grandmother Emma Johnson, siblings: Cheryl Moore, Lonnie Dean Johnson; sister in laws: Joan Glasgow, Edna Brown; brother in laws: Larry Glasgow, Robert Brown, Jerry Moore; nephews: Cole Cummings, Joe Ross and niece, Robin Brown.
