Obituary for Vivian Ida Hall (McCoy)

Vivian Ida Hall, 74, of Rensselaer, Indiana went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 11, 2020. She was born July 27, 1946, in Gary, Indiana to the late Murray and Ruth McCoy. Vivian was very proud to be part Cherokee Indian on her father’s side.

She was a 1964 graduate of Calumet High School, where she was the captain of the cheerleading squad.

She worked for over 30 years as a paralegal for the Walter J. Alvarez Law Firm in Crown Point, Indiana. She moved to Rensselaer, Indiana 20 plus years ago and retired due to illness.

She married the love of her life, Corky Hall, in 1979. They enjoyed over 40 wonderful years together. Vivian had a real passion for horses. Corky affectionately called her “The Horse Whisperer” for her innate ability to communicate with and calm even the wildest of horses. She loved bareback riding and never met a horse she couldn’t tame.

Vivian loved flowers and joyfully sang to high Heaven for her Lord. She was vibrant, genuine, and a true heart in everything that she did. She was a blessed Christian woman with a vibrant smile that would light up a room. She never met a stranger.

She is survived by her loving husband, Corky Hall of Rensselaer; son Michael (Melissa) Hall of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter Julia Hall of DeKalb, Illinois; two brothers, Murray (Joyce) McCoy of Branson, Missouri and Tim (Cathy) McCoy of Crown Point; and dear friends Vince and Angie Urbano, and their children Ava, Brynlee, and Layne.

She was preceded in death by her son, Troy Warrens, and her parents.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, September 21, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. with Chaplain Rob Dorow officiating. Burial will follow at Crockett Cemetery.
