William Anthony “Tony” Reffelt, 79, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away at his home on April 28, 2023. He was born in Kokomo, Indiana on July 30, 1943, the son of William R. Reffelt and Helen (Critser) Reffelt. He was a 1961 graduate of Rensselaer High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 – 1970.
Tony was an entrepreneur who started off in the transportation business as a driver for Coca-Cola and was the shipping and receiving foreman for Northway. After moving to Florida, he owned a moving business and became a licensed realtor. In addition to owning a farm in Rensselaer, he enjoyed his retirement in the sunshine. Tony was a proud father and grandfather.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, listening to bluegrass music and playing the guitar.
He is survived by his life partner of 46 years, Sandra Trapp; three children: Kimberly (Michael Schwartz) Theodore, Tonya (Matt Parker) Reffelt, and Joe (Amy) Trapp; and six grandchildren: Alayne (Joe Baxter) Theodore, Marissa (Ryan) Rogus, Peter Theodore, Bodhi Reffelt Parker, Addison Trapp, and Kirsten Trapp.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved siblings: Millicent “Ann” Conley, Kathleen “Kay” Smolar, Judith “Judy” Garner, Margaret “Maggie” Klaus and Vladimir “Miro” Pregelj.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer.
