Alice Louise Mckay

July 24, 1950 — September 29, 2025

Alice Louise McKay, 75, of Rensselaer, IN passed away at her home on Monday morning, September 29, 2025. She was born in Richmond, IN on July 24, 1950, daughter of the late Cecil and Betty (Dennison) Sheets.

Alice was a “feisty little woman” with a lot of spirit. She raised three children by herself. She bartended in her early years at the Eagles in Richmond. She was a cook at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer and took care of the pub there. She was proud to have been named “employee of the year” during her time there. She enjoyed traveling with her good friend, Linda Deno, who was the college’s athletic director, to away games on the team bus.

Alice had an affinity for cows and enjoyed collecting anything and everything with a cow motif.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tina (Dean) Fellers and Kim (James) Brown; three grandchildren: Heather Alvey (James Burden), Christopher Brown and Zoe Fellers; two great-grandchildren, Summer Alvey-Romero (Juan) and Issac Riley; one great-great-granddaughter, Maeve Romero; and one brother, Timmy (Jo) Sheets.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Lincoln McDaniel III; her grandson, Jebariah James Brown; her parents, Cecil and Betty Sheets; and her brother, David Ingle Sheets.

Alice did not wish to have a service. She wanted everyone to remember her with a smile and not tears in their eyes. Steinke Funeral Home is honored to be handling the cremation arrangements. Memories, condolences and photos may be shared with the family at www.SteinkeFuneralHome.com.
