Arlene Lonergan

Arlene M. Lonergan, 86, of Parr, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017. She was born in Rensselaer on December 12, 1930 to the late John and Marie (Schultz) Kellner.

She graduated from Fair Oaks High School with the class of 1949. Arlene married Deane Brunton in July of 1949, he preceded her in death August 11, 1963. In March of 1969 she married John Lonergan. She was a lifelong Jasper County resident. Arlene was a homemaker and through the years she will be remembered for her smiling face as a sales clerk at area businesses.

Arlene attended St. Luke Lutheran Church of Rensselaer. She enjoyed golfing, antiquing and especially going to the boats.

She is survived by: husband John; one son, Rick (Karen) Brunton of Rensselaer; two granddaughters: Denise (Justin) Sorber, and Tiffany Brunton.

Arlene was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Marie (Schultz) Kellner; her first husband Deane; one son, Dale Brunton, and two brothers.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Pastor Benjamin Hertel officiating. Burial will take place in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church of Rensselaer. Steinke Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
