Bette Pecsenye

Bette M. Pecsenye, 74, of rural Morocco passed away at her home Wednesday, February 3, 2010. She was born January 28, 1936 in Cook County, Illinois, daughter of the late Evon and Elizabeth (Stettka) Nelson. She graduated from the Blue Island, Illinois public schools with the class of 1953. Bette married Stephen R. Pecsenye August 15, 1953 in Blue Island. He preceded her in death February 1, 2007. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women Missionary League and was the church organist until a year ago. Bette loved spending time with her family and enjoyed reading. Surviving are sons Rory Pecsenye of Peotone, IL, Kurt Pecsenye of Grant Park, IL, Warren Pecsenye of Wabash, IN and Craig Pecsenye of Sarasota, FL. Also surviving are her sister Marilyn Dietz, uncle Robert Stettka, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Stephen T. Pecsenye, a sister and brother. Friends may visit with the family Saturday, February 6 from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2723 N 700 W, Rensselaer. Pastor David Mueller officiating. Interment follows in St. John’s Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church. S
