Blanche Byron, age 95, formerly of Remington, passed away early Thursday, April 2, 2009 in Quincy, Illinois where she had lived the past six years. She was born on January 13, 1914 in Fowler, Indiana the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Funk) Nelson. She graduated from Gilboa High School in 1932. On January 18, 1939 in Remington she married Thomas C. Byron. She had worked in the Laboratory Department of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette from 1969 through 1982. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington. Surviving are sons Ronald E. (Cheryl) Byron of Boise, Idaho and Robert A. (Claudia) Byron of Quincy, Illinois, sisters Helen Fuller of Greeley, Colorado and Rita Gagnon of Waukegan, Illinois, brother Raymond Nelson of North Fort Myers, Florida, brother-in-law George Hannon of Wisconsin, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and her husband. Friends may call at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington on Wednesday, April 8th from 1:00 P.M. Remington time until time of Service at 2 P.M. Father Fox will officiate with interment following at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Remington.
