Bruce C. Grant

Bruce C. Grant, 81, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Rensselaer, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

Bruce was born in Rensselaer March 23, 1932 to Samuel and Gladys Grant. He lived in Rensselaer most of his life where he graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1951. He joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean War.

He married Jo-Ann L. Ferguson Sept. 27, 1957, and she survives.

Bruce was an avid fisherman who loved to spend time with his grandchildren teaching them how to fish.

Bruce is survived by his loving family: wife Jo-Ann Grant of Vero Beach, FL; three children: Joseph (Patricia) Grant of Bloomington, Samantha Obbagy of Crown Point, and Bruce Grant, Jr. of Vero Beach, FL; seven grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Caryl Marzke of Spartanburg, SC.

Donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the American Cancer Society.

Per Bruce’s wishes, cremation was chosen and interment will take place at Weston Cemetery. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. (CST) at the First Presbyterian Church in Rensselaer with Pastor James Dougans officiating. Friends may visit with the family one half hour prior to the memorial service, from 1:30-2:00 p.m.
