Carol Jo Blann, 91, of Macon, GA, formerly of Morocco, IN, passed away November 14, 2025. She was born in Rensselaer, IN on July 11, 1934, the daughter of Millard Hart and Beaulah (Spurgeon) Hission. She was raised by her mother and her step-father, John Hission.
Carol graduated from DeMotte High School. She went on to graduate from Ball State University in 1956 with a degree in nursing. Right after graduating from Ball State, she went to Bethesda, MD to work at the National Institute of Health. She worked for several years at George Ade Memorial Hospital, and then as the Jasper County WIC nurse.
In March of 1957 she married George Blann. He preceded her in death in August of 1992.
Carol was a member of the Morocco First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed sewing, reading, word searches, and going to yard sales. Carol spent the last 30 years of her life in Macon, GA, where she volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Carol is survived by five children: Cindy (Bob) Petri of Helena, AL, Brenda (Rodney) Strain of Monticello, IN, Brian (Tammy) Blann of Macon, GA, Mark Blann of Morocco, IN and Janet (Jerry) Ohren of Keller, TX; six grandchildren: Heather (Todd) Redmon, Leigh Ann (Edward) Jones, Kelly Putman, Jennifer Putman, Ashley Blann and Brandon Strain; and three great-grandchildren: Jonathan Jones, Drew Jones and Benjamin Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Blann; father, Millard Hart; mother, Beaulah Hission; step-father, John Hission; and sister, Shirley Zeck.
Visitation will be Friday, November 21, 2025 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral at noon (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Pastor Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morocco First United Methodist Church.
