Carrie Helterbridle

Carrie Frances Zacharias Helterbridle, 96, a resident of Ashland, OH since September of 1993, died at the Good Shepherd Home on December 12, 2008. She was born in Lake Village, IN on January 27, 1912 to the late Fred and Florence Parnell Zacharias. As a young girl she went to school in a horse drawn school bus and in winter weather a horse drawn sleigh. On August 12, 1929, she married Harold Helterbridle, he preceded her in death on December 5, 1993. In the 1940's they owned and operated a fishing camp and resort, "Birch Point Inn" at Lake Nokomis at Tomahawk, Wisconsin. She and her husband were lead into the ministry in the 1950's. He became a pastor in the Church of God serving churches in Indiana, She was a wonderful pastor's wife and always an inspiration to others. They retired from full time ministry in 1975 and moved to Mercer, Wisconsin where they lived in the woods in a beautiful log cabin, hand built by Harold overlooking the sparkling water of the Turtle River. After Harold's death she moved to Ashland, to the Good Shepherd Villa and continued to be an inspiration to others, as she started a Bible Study Group at the Villa. Carrie is survived by her son, Michael D. Helterbridle of Ashland and her grandson, Jason M. (Cassandra) Helterbridle of Wooster, and her great grandchildren, Micaela and Isaac and her care giver, Cherie H. Bailey of Ashland. In addition to her parents, and beloved husband, her brother, Clifford Zacharias also preceded her in death. A Memorial Service will be held December 17, 2008, at the Good Shepherd Manor Library at 4:00 PM with Pastor Julie Thoms officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, next to her beloved husband, in Morocco, Indiana. The family suggests that memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Community Fund at Good Shepherd Villa, 622 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
