Charles David “Chuck” Flahive, 81, of Morocco, IN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 23, 1944, in Chicago, Heights, IL, the son of David Charles Flahive and Louella Mae (Ralls) Flahive. Chuck was saved, son of the living God, Jesus Christ.

Chuck attended Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a true patriot who loved his country. Chuck had the distinct privilege of going on the Veteran’s Honor Flight in 2018.

Chuck worked as a police officer for the Kentland Police Department, the Newton County Sheriff’s Department, the Town of Morocco, where he served as Town Marshal, and finally with the Brook Police Department, where he served as Deputy Marshal. He was also a transport officer for the Newton County Sheriff’s Department. Chuck was also a truck driver for many years for Flahive Trucking, working with his son, Dave.

Chuck was a man of service. He would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a volunteer firefighter for the both the Hazel Crest, IL and Morocco, IN fire departments. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Knights of Pythias #492, the Morocco Masonic Lodge #372, Morocco American Legion Post #146, Scottish Rite, and he was a Shriner with the Orak Temple. He was a proud supporter of the Shriner Circus. He also volunteered with the Benton County Civil Defense and Ambulance Service, and he was a Cub Scout Leader while raising his young family. He was a faithful member of the Remington First Christian Church.

Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was a jack-of-all-trades and there wasn’t a task that he wouldn’t attempt, always giving his best effort. From carpentry to plumbing, Chuck did it all.

Chuck’s first marriage was to Brenda Swarens. Together they had three children. His second marriage was to Rhonda Lambert.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Flahive of Morocco, IN; three children: David Flahive of Morocco, IN, Christy (Joe, Jr.) Klaus of Remington, IN and Chip (Bobbi) Flahive of Brook, IN; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Klaus (Gary Douglas) of Whitestown, IN and Patrick (Aspen) Klaus of Wolcott, IN; two great-grandchildren, Cora and Callan; siblings: Margaret (Sherman) Propes of Lowell, IN, Sue (Steve) Gaines of Bradley, IL, Bart Flahive of Bradley, IL, Dale (Beth) Flahive of Manteno, IL, Trudie (John) Hughes of Steger, IL, LouWonna (Mick) Snodgrass of Donovan, IL, Gordon (Deb) Lambert of Beaverville, IL and Dean (Chic) Lambert of Indiana; and his former wife and the mother of his children, Brenda Linquist of West Lafayette, IN. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Louella Flahive; three brothers: Ben, Lenny and Jack; and two sisters, Martha and Emily.

Chuck was so very proud and thankful for the constant love and care he received from his kids and wife during all the trying times of his health issues.

The family is planning a celebration of Chuck’s life for Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Veteran’s Day, from 5-8 p.m. CST at the Beaver Township Community Center, 409 S. Polk St., Morocco, IN 47963. The memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. with Pastor Paul Dyke officiating, followed by a Masonic service. Visitation will follow until 8 p.m.

Burial with full military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at a later date.
