Charles Hall, age 65 of Morocco, passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 26, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital in Lafayette. He was born in Rensselaer on Dec. 17, 1946, son of Sarah “Jeanette” (Starnes) Hall and the late Floyd Hall. He was a lifelong Morocco area resident.
Charles graduated from Morocco High School with the class of 1965. He worked as a diesel mechanic at Inland Steel for 31 years. He was a Son of the American Legion, Post #146 in Morocco and was also a member of the Southern Lakes Conservation Club.
Charles is survived by daughter Kellie Lannon (Tim) of Saunemin, IL; son Bill Hall (Shari) of Brownsburg, IN; step-daughter Jane Gerdes (Brad) of Saunemin, IL; eight grandchildren: Crystal Hubble (Dwayne), Elizabeth Hall, Blake Hall, and Brandon Wilson, all of Brownsburg, IN, Brittani Henady of Bloomington, IL, and Logan Henady, Leighton Gerdes, and Walker Gerdes, all of Saunemin, IL. Also surviving are his mother, Sarah "Jeanette" (Starnes) Hall of Morocco; sister, Gladys Hall of Morocco; sister-in-law Gerry Dawson of Camdenton, MO; and 3 great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Hall; two brothers: Kenny Hall and Donny Hall; and a grandson, Hunter Gerdes.
Friends may call Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel in Morocco. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Sons of the American Legion, Morocco Post #146.
