Charles Edward “Eddie” Hamilton, age 74 of Lake Village, passed away Saturday morning, July 23, 2011, at the Rensselaer Care Center. He was born in West Lebanon, Illinois March 22, 1937, son of the late Charles and Ruth (Rader) Hamilton.
Eddie graduated from Emerson High School in Gary. On Oct. 25, 1958 he married Loretta (June) Hamilton in Hobart. In addition to Lake Village, Eddie had lived in Gary, Hobart, Benton Harbor, MI and Morocco. He worked in maintenance at Flying ‘J’ Truckstop in Lowell, retiring in 2001. He had previously worked for Speith’s Market in Momence, IL, Heckett Engineering in East Chicago, and the Budd Company in Gary.
Eddie was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of DeMotte, where he served as an Elder. He was a former Youth Minister at the United Methodist Church of Roselawn. He loved his church and spending time with his grandchildren and his eight cats.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife Loretta; two sons, Randall “Randy” Hamilton and Greggory Hamilton (wife: Melissa) of Kentland; two grandchildren, David and Abigail Hamilton of Kentland; two sisters, Shirley Hamilton of Smyrna, GA, and Beverly Casewell (husband: Jackie) of Edina, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Russell Edward Hamilton and Charles Donald Hamilton; and three brothers, Rev. Carroll “Butch” Hamilton, Joseph Hamilton, and Raymond Hamilton.
Friends may call Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 noon at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel of Morocco. Rev. Dennis Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family.
