Colonel Stone

Colonel Stone, Sr., 73, of Wheatfield, passed away suddenly Thursday evening, November 15, 2012 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. Colonel was born May 13, 1939 in Decoy, KY, son of the late Adam and Rhoda (Stephens) Stone. On May 13, 1961, he married Jeweldine Miller. She preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 2005.


Colonel was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He worked for Ford Motor Co. in Chicago Heights, IL, and was the minister of Goodway Baptist Church for many years. He put a lot of faith in the Lord.


Colonel is survived by one son, Randy Stone of Rensselaer; three daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Baggerly of Wheatfield, Tabitha (Jeff) Province of Remington, and Heather (Dave) Theilan of Highland; five grandchildren: Amber Pavloff, Justin Baggerly, Shelbee Wireman, Jasmine and Saber Province; two great-grandchildren, Blayde and Lexi Pavloff; five brothers, Lyman Stone of Rensselaer, Irvin (Sue) Stone of Rensselaer, Ernie (Susie) Stone of Rensselaer, Jeral (Patty) Stone of Wheatfield, and Claude (Ommie) Stone of Salyersville, KY; and two sisters, Magelene (Dick) Greiger of LaCross and Edizine Wireman of Rensselaer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jeweldine; one son, Colonel, Jr.; one sister; and four brothers.


Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 from 3-7 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. (CST) at United Baptist Church of Gilliam Township with Pastor James Rowe and Pastor Dean Rowe officiating. Interment will follow at Goodway Cemetery.
