Daniel Ray “Dan” Gastineau, age 59, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away Monday July 22, 2024 at his home with his loving family at his side. Dan was born on February 20,1965 in Rensselaer, son of Kenneth Leon “Gus” Gastineau and Shirley Gastineau (Richards). He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Rensselaer Central High, class of 1983.
On April 26, 1997 in Rensselaer he married Lisa Urban, and she survives. Dan worked for the State of Indiana Highway Department on road construction out of the LaPorte Station and retired after 37 years of service. Upon retirement he served as a project supervisor. After retiring from the State, he began working for RQAW/DCCM construction and worked there as a project supervisor for four years.
Dan enjoyed doing woodworking projects, and home improvements around the house. He loved spending time with family playing games. When he was not working around the house or enjoying family, he followed his favorite sports teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Dan also loved playing with the family dogs, as they were a big part of his life.
He was a member of the Faith Christian Tabernacle in Rensselaer and will be remembered as a faithful Christian and a loyal friend who always greeted you with a big smile.
Dan is survived by his wife Lisa; one sister, Karen Gastineau; and one brother, David Gastineau, both of Louisville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Shirley, and his brother Jeff.
Friends may visit with the family Monday, July 29, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. James W. Blanchard officiating. Burial will follow at Weston Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Faith Christian Tabernacle of Rensselaer.
