David Victor Elijah

David Victor “Vic” Elijah, 97, of Morocco, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Rensselaer Care Center. He was born in Mt. Ayr on June 23, 1917, the son of the late Alex Elijah and Laura (Bell) Elijah. He graduated from Mt. Ayr High School and was a lifelong resident of Newton County. In 1940 he married Lois Mildred Downs. She preceded him in death. Vic was a farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching baseball. He was a big Chicago Cubs fan.

Vic is survived by: one son, Alex “Jim” Elijah (Karen) of West Lafayette; five grandchildren: Alex James Elijah, Jr. (Tammie) of Morocco, Kevin James Elijah of Morocco, Kelcey Lynn Elijah of Princeton, IN, Robin Ellis, and Geoff Elijah of Brook; one step-granddaughter, Jody Powell; and one great granddaughter, Morgan Elijah of Fayetteville, AR. He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, two sisters and two sons.

Friends may call on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 3-6 pm (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Funeral services will be held at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Marcia Smith-Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
