David L. Mead

David L. Mead, 79, of Morocco, passed away at his home Wednesday evening, Feb. 18, 2015. He was born in Goodland Jan. 30, 1936, the son of the late Charles and Mary (Kay) Mead. He graduated from Morocco High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army.

In 1961 David married Delores Derflinger. She preceded him in death in 1993. On Aug. 11, 1994 he married Sandra Lindgren, and she survives. David was a carpenter. He worked for Homewood Cabinets, the Steger Furniture Factory and Oakley Millwork. He enjoyed woodworking and watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bulls.

David is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Mead of Morocco; children: Jonathan (Jan) Mead of Frankfort, Illinois, James (Betty) Rogers of Bradley, Illinois, Tina (Scott) O’Brien of Manteno, Illinois and Brenda (Steve) Wallace of Trenton, Illinois; one brother, Edward (Dorothy) Mead of Steger, Illinois; and nine grandchildren: Kevin, Casey, Molly, Cody, Conner, Brittany, Stephanie, Amanda and Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles and Mary Mead; his first wife, Delores Mead; and three sisters.

Friends may call Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Chaplain Bob Rawlins officiating.
