Dee Blaney

February 13, 1936 — November 17, 2021

Dee Blaney, 85, of rural Rensselaer passed, away Wednesday, November 17th, 2021. She was born February 13, 1936 in Charleston, Illinois to the late Leonard and Doris (Gingrey) Rumsey.


Dee was a graduate of Thornton Fractional North High School in Calumet City, Illinois. On December 11, 1999, she married Joe Blaney. She was employed for North Newton School Corporation until her retirement.


She enjoyed listening to spiritual music. Dee was active with the American Legion Auxiliary of Morocco and enjoyed bowling. She volunteered her time to the Jasper County Food Pantry. Dee supported Newton County Horse and Pony 4-H. She would go above and beyond for people and pets in need. Dee loved animals.


Dee is survived by her children: Frank Fontanyi, Terry (Debbie) Fontanyi, Rhonda (Bob) Kosta, and Glenn (David) Fox-Gilbreth; 5 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers: Norm Rumsey and Butch (Kaye) Rumsey; and many friends that became family.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Frank Fontanyi, Roy Fox, George Barrett and Joe Blaney; brother Howard Rumsey.


A private intimate goodbye will be held prior to graveside service. Graveside service will be held at Prairie Vine Cemetery in Morocco on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. (Central Time) with Pastor Wayne Williams officiating. Contributions in Dee’s memory may be made to Jasper County Food Pantry, Newton County Horse and Pony 4-H, or Jasper County Animal Shelter.
