Dennis "Denny" Brown

Dennis "Denny" Brown, age 75, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Denny graduated from North Newton High School in 1969. The following year, he married his love, Nancy Potts. It wasn't until a move to Georgia that Denny discovered his lifelong love of woodworking. He spent his career working in various mill shops and as a talented trim carpenter, which ultimately ignited a deep passion for building furniture.

His daughter, Stacey, made sure he was always kept busy, constantly challenging him with her latest design ideas and furniture needs. Denny had a rare gift for connection. He could find something in common with anyone who sat down next to him, leaving people feeling as though they had known each other for years. He was also famously ornery, loved to pick at people, and fully expected them to pick right back. Above all else, nothing brought more joy to his life than being "Papa" to his two beloved granddaughters.

Denny is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Potts Brown; his daughter, Stacey (Walter) Raines; his two granddaughters, Kyra and Sydney Raines; and his sister, Kay (Steve) Madison.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Brown; his brothers, Jerry and Terry Brown; and his parents, Gilbert and Mary Brown. It was Denny’s wish to be laid to rest near his beloved brothers and parents.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. CDT at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco, Indiana. Mary K. Emmrich officiating.
