Dewayne Chapman

DeWayne M. Chapman, age 74 of Brook, IN passed away December 20, 2008 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born September 2, 1934 in Brook, son of the late Estil O. Chapman and Elouise H. (Davies) Chapman. She survives. He was a lifetime Newton County resident and a 1952 Graduate of Morocco High School. On May 23, 1953 he married Constance J. (Schuster). She survives. He had been a self-employed building contractor for 24 years retiring January, 2000. He was an avid golfer and previous member of Hazelden and Curtis Creek Country Clubs. DeWayne was a die-hard Chicago Cubs & Chicago Bears fan. He officiated baseball, basketball and football in the area for 30 years and coached Little League & Babe Ruth Baseball in Brook for 15 years. Private family services will be held at Steinke Funeral Home in Rensselaer with Pastor Larry Klingler officiating on December 23, 2008. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Brook. DeWayne will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
