Donald J. Miller, 88, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away Saturday afternoon, October 26, 2024 at the Rensselaer Care Center. He was born in Dwight, Illinois on October 14, 1936, the son of Albert Miller, Sr. and Hazel (Edwards) Miller.
On March 1, 1956 he married Charlene E. Bramble. She preceded him in death on September 28, 2014.
Don worked as a farm hand, first for Gene Hageman for 15 years, then for Nevoy Culp for 15 years. He then worked for Omni Forge in Remington for 15 years. He retired in 2010 after working for nine years for the City of Rensselaer Parks Dept. He enjoyed watching westerns and frequenting the local coffee shops.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Tony) Baltes; daughter-in-law Terri; one sister, Alma Jean Hoaks; four grandchildren: Nicole (Scott) Cook, Steven (Jill) Miller, Melissa (Chris) New and Jennifer Becker; and five great-grandchildren: Jeffry, Ruby, Kayly, Brent and Ethan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Miller; his son, Rick Miller; his parents, Albert and Hazel Miller, Sr.; two brothers, Albert Miller, Jr. and Ed Miller; one sister, Anna May Minick; one brother-in-law, Melvin Hoaks; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Miller and Iona Miller.
