Donald Smith

Donald Glenn Smith, age 81, of Remington passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer. He was born April 7, 1929 in Princeton, WV, son of Reginald S. and Frances (Peters) Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from the Princeton, WV High School and Morris Harvey College. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country from 1946-1948.

On July 25, 1980, Mr. Smith married Bess Morrison in Hawaii. Mr. Smith had lived in Remington for 25 years. Prior to that, he had lived in California where he worked as a Plant Controller at Union Carbide Corp. for over 35 years.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sisters, Alice Hawkins of Richmond, VA and Regina Smith of Glen Allen, VA; and a brother, Ron Smith (wife Sharon) of Dewey, AZ. His parents and his wife preceded him in death.

Per Donald’s wishes, he was cremated. Interment will be at a later date at Ashkum, Illinois. Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer is handling the arrangements.
