Dorothy Countryman

DOROTHY I. COUNTRYMAN, age 83 of Rensselaer passed away Sunday evening, September 20, 2009 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born February 23, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York a daughter of the late Russell and Marie Cunnius. She received her education in Brooklyn and had lived in New York and Kentland, IN before moving to Rensselaer 40 years ago. She married Richard I. Countryman, Sr. in Brooklyn, New York on September 4, 1954. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1992. She had worked in factory production and was a Department Store Manager for Ames for several years. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and volunteered for the Rensselaer Care Center for 10 years. Children surviving are, John (Lois) Countryman of North Judson, IN, Richard James (Cheryl) Countryman of New York, Priscilla (Daniel) Doege of Wheatfield and Richard I. Countryman, Jr. of Rensselaer. One sister, Mildred Cunnius of Georgia survives and there are 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, 2 daughters, 6 brothers and 6 sisters. Friends may call at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer from 4 until 7 P.M., Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Funeral services will be held at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer on Thursday, September 24th at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Mark Callaway officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Cemetery southeast of Rensselaer.
